Favorite detective series: Agatha Christie's Miss Marple played by Joan Hickson.
In the 1940s she appeared on stage in an Agatha Christie play, Appointment with Death, which was seen by Christie who wrote her a note saying, "I hope one day you will play my dear Miss Marple."
(I was always partial to this particular picture for her eyes resembled my Mother's eyes.)
